Metropolis

The Filmtheater Metropolis plays in the Alter Bahnhof, the old railway station at Bahnhofstraße 165 in Würselen. It is run entirely by volunteers of the nonprofit Metropolis e.V., founded in 1989. The auditorium in the converted station building has existed since 1995. It has 99 upholstered seats and 16 further places, and the projection room still holds the old 35mm projectors alongside the digital equipment. The bistro is open before the film and during the quarter-hour interval. Regular series include Blue Monday in the afternoon with coffee, cake and an introduction to the film, MittwochMorgenMetropolis in the morning, the artists' cinema with the BBK Aachen/Euregio, and Pink Friday for women only. Children's films are free on the Sundays of Advent. The cinema stays in the Alter Bahnhof until 31 March 2027, when the building is renovated. A temporary programme is planned for that period.
