Alter Teich 7-9, 08527 Plauen
The Malzhaus on Alter Teich in Plauen is a socio-cultural centre that runs a cinema programme of its own alongside concerts and cabaret. Films are shown in the Galerie, two exhibition floors crossed by beams and open up to the third attic floor. Screenings are mostly on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm, with an extra 3 pm show on some Mondays. The building went up in 1730 as the town's malt house, on the remains of a castle. After a citizens' initiative formed in October 1989, it was revived as a cultural centre in 1990, run by the association Soziokulturelles Zentrum Malzhaus.
