li.wu. Frieda23 is the second location of the Rostock arthouse li.wu. (Lichtspieltheater Wundervoll), operated by the association Ro-cine e.V. A former school at Friedrichstraße 23 became the Frieda23 cultural centre, run by KARO gAG. li.wu. was a founding member of that non-profit company and opened its second screen here in 2014, in a purpose-built annex. The hall seats 121. It sits near Doberaner Platz in the city centre, where tram lines 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 stop. The programme is current releases and documentaries. Films that do not run in German are shown in the original version with subtitles, marked OmU.
