Lichtblick Kinotreff

The Lichtblick Kinotreff is in the centre of Walldorf, on Mörfelder Straße. It opened in October 1992, after the Löwen-Lichtspiele on Langstraße, Walldorf's last cinema, had closed earlier that year. The building had already been a cinema in the 1960s. Before the conversion it housed a recording studio where Deep Purple, among others, made records. The auditorium has 144 seats, 36 of them on two balconies, and a bar that stays open throughout. There is no popcorn because of the smell, but hot snacks come off the grill. Besides the main programme and the children's screenings at 14:30, the Kommunales Kino shows international art-house films and documentaries at lower prices on one to three days a week, usually Tuesday to Thursday. Tickets are reserved by phone or through the contact form, and seating is usually unreserved.
