Kulturtheater Tutzing

The Kulturtheater Tutzing is the former KurTheater on Kirchenstraße, which opened on 28 August 1953. The building with its double archway was designed by the Tutzing architect Hans Schmohl. In 1971 Luchino Visconti used the projection room to view the footage for Ludwig II. When the last tenants retired in December 2023, the cinema stayed shut for almost a year, until the citizens' initiative "Tutzing macht Kino!" and more than 500 residents got it reopened on 3 October 2024. Since then the non-profit association Kulturtheater Tutzing e.V. has run it with volunteers, Thursday to Sunday in a single hall. French films in the regular programme are shown dubbed, while the Ciné en vogue series shows one a month on a Sunday in the original with German subtitles. The Tutzinger Filmerkundungen series is curated by the film historian Friedemann Beyer. The box office takes cash only.
