Kulturzentrum Lichtburg

The Lichtburg at Kaiserstraße 97 is the arthouse cinema of the Unabhängiges Kulturzentrum Lichtburg e.V., a non-profit association active in the cultural life of Wetter (Ruhr) since 1992. A ticket costs 7 euros, 6 euros reduced, and one euro more for films with extra length. Cinema tickets are sold at the service office diagonally opposite at Kaiserstraße 94. ProTicket's advance booking outlets and hotline do not sell cinema tickets. On the second Friday of each month the Kaffeeklatsch und Kino series offers coffee, cake and a film at 15:30 for 10 euros. Once a month there is a Sunday Frühstückskino at 11 a.m. (25 euros with breakfast), and at the Strick-Kino the lights stay up enough to see your stitches. Kaffeeklatsch and breakfast need a reservation. Wheelchair users enter through the back entrance. In 2014 the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW gave the cinema a Kinoprogrammpreis for its programme of the previous year. The association also runs the 420-seat Stadtsaal, which hosts concerts and cabaret.
