Kommunales Kino

The Kommunales Kino Pforzheim has been housed in the Stadtbau GmbH building since 2003, right by the Schlosspark and close to the main station. Its auditorium has 106 seats and a screen of 8 by 3.5 metres. Alongside a Barco 4K projector it keeps two Ernemann 15 projectors for 35 mm, which also run archive prints and silent films at 18 frames per second. The house shows around 300 films a year, about two thirds of them from Germany and Europe, some in the original version with subtitles. Children's and school screenings are part of the programme. In 2023 it won first prize in the Kinematheksverbund cinema award, in the category "Kino, das verbindet".
