Kommunales Kino Freiburg

The Kommunales Kino Freiburg plays in the Alter Wiehrebahnhof, the old Wiehre railway station on Urachstraße 40, and is run by the association Kommunales Kino Freiburg e.V. The programme spans the whole history of film and current work from around the world, shown in the original version with subtitles wherever possible. Every week there is the Mittwochskino with films from the Global South, and the Kinderkino on Sundays. Once a month there is a silent film with piano accompaniment, and the ciné club, which the house runs with the Centre Culturel Français Freiburg. Up to 150 guests a year come to the screenings, from directors to scholars. Since 2005 the cinema has received a Kinopreis from the Deutsche Kinemathek every year. The hall, foyer and café can be reached by a ramp.
