Kino Museum

Kino Museum on Am Stadtgraben is Tübingen's long-standing festival and premiere cinema. Josef Mayer opened the "Lichtspiele im Museum" in January 1933 in the Schiller theatre hall of the Museumsgesellschaft, a building from 1888. The Lamm family ran the house for over 70 years. Since October 2023 it has been run by Carsten Schuffert and Robert Weihing, who renovated it and reopened it in February 2025. The three auditoriums seat 535 between them. Almodóvar, with 380 seats and a 62 square metre screen, is the largest cinema auditorium in the city. Arsenal (106 seats) is named in memory of the Tübingen arthouse cinema that closed in 2024, and Coppola has 49. Alongside new releases the programme carries series such as the MET Opera relays and the weekly Monday Arsenal Sneak, and some shows run in the original with subtitles. The foyer bar is open without a cinema ticket and pours over 40 wines from a self-service dispenser.
