Kino am Markt

The Kino am Markt is at Markt 5 in the centre of Jena. It belongs to the same operators as the Kino im Schillerhof, who took over the rooms on the market square in 2015. Auditorium 1 was built in a former photo studio in early 2016 and has 58 folding seats, a 5.1 by 2.2 metre screen and digital 5.1 sound. Two pillars, ceiling elements and ventilation pipes were left in view. Auditorium 2 has 28 red folding seats and is the only one of the two cinemas' four auditoriums with a centre aisle. On Wednesdays every film runs, where possible, in the original version with German subtitles, and the sneak preview also shows its films with subtitles. Students of the FSU and the EAH Jena get into most screenings free from Monday to Thursday with the Kulturticket.
