Kino achteinhalb is a single-screen arthouse in the Kultur- und Werkhof Nauwieser 19, in Saarbrücken's Nauwieser Viertel. It opened in April 1990 with Fellini's 8½, the film it is named after, and is run by the Verein zur Förderung von Medienarbeit e.V., founded in 1985. The hall has 73 fixed seats, expandable to 92, with three wheelchair spaces and a screen of four by three metres. Projection runs from 16mm, 35mm and 4K DCP. The programme mixes new releases, older classics and documentaries, often with a talk or discussion after the film. Films in their original language are marked OmU for German subtitles or OmeU for English.
