Gronauer Lichtspiele

The Gronauer Lichtspiele is a single-hall cinema on Bahnhofstraße in Gronau (Leine). Films have played here since 1919. The hall still has the character of its 1954 renovation, and the last refurbishment was in 2017. It seats 126, has Dolby Surround sound and has projected digitally since 2014. The KulturKreis Gronau e.V. has run the cinema since 1 April 2001, together with a small stage for readings and cabaret. Beside current films for children and adults there are series such as the Kaffeekino and Best of Cinema, which shows a film classic on the first Tuesday of each month. The programme has received the Niedersächsischer Jahresfilmprogrammpreis, Lower Saxony's annual film programme award, since 2001. The entrance is step-free and there are spaces for wheelchair users, but the toilet is not wheelchair accessible.
