Central im Bürgerbräu

The Central is an arthouse cinema run by the cooperative Programmkino Würzburg eG. It opened in November 2010 in the assembly hall of the Mozart school, between the cathedral and the Residenz, and moved to the Bürgerbräu site in Zellerau at the end of 2016. There the three auditoriums sit in the cellar vaults of the former bottling hall and seat up to 164, 112 and 36. Projection is by NEC laser projectors in 2K, with Dolby 5.1 sound. Films in a foreign original language usually run with German subtitles. Regular strands include Cinema! Italia!, the Queer Film Nacht on (almost always) the last Monday of the month, and relays from the Met Opera.
