Schulstraße 4, 40213 Düsseldorf
The Black Box is the cinema of the Filmmuseum Düsseldorf at Schulstraße 4. The museum has run it as a municipal cinema since 2009, showing films from every decade, mostly in curated series and some with an introduction. The auditorium has 134 seats and a 6.20 by 2.60 metre screen. Projection is digital, on a Barco laser projector, and analogue from 35 mm and 16 mm, with a variable frame rate between 16 and 25 frames per second. Behind the screen stands a Welte cinema organ built in 1928/29, which the Filmmuseum acquired from the Walhalla-Theater in Wiesbaden in 1980 and which accompanies silent films several times a year. Admission is 7 euros, 5 euros reduced, and free up to the age of 21. There is no online ticketing; seats are reserved by phone or at the box office.
