Astra Filmtheater

The Astra Filmtheater is at Lange Straße 17 in Plön and has one screen with 171 seats, 6 of them at the bar counter, and tables at the seats. The screen measures about 40 square metres, sound runs in 7.1 Dolby Surround, and the auditorium has a small stage and limited step-free access. The cinema opened in 1938 as the "Schauburg" in a former journeymen's hostel. It took the name Astra under Filmtheaterbetriebe Benthin, who built the trapezoid bar at the head of the auditorium in the late 1970s. It now belongs to Filmtheaterbetriebe Jansen, who switched it from 35mm film to digital projection in 2013. The programme includes series such as Kinderkino, Kultkino, Klima Kino Plön and Der besondere Film.
