AFK Unikino Karlsruhe

The Akademischer Filmkreis Karlsruhe e.V. has run a cinema in the Hertz-Hörsaal (building 10.11) on the KIT campus since 1954. Students organise it as volunteers. The hall has 250 seats. Films are projected digitally in 4K or from 35 mm, and the system plays four-channel magnetic sound, which in Karlsruhe only the Schauburg can otherwise do. The programme changes every semester and mixes films of recent years with classics. Shows are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 pm, and every film is preceded by a short. The version is given for each date, and a film often plays once in the original and once in the German version. Admission is 3 euros, the single price for everyone since the 2010 summer semester. Seat cushions can be borrowed.
