At the southern edge of Köpenick, where the Dahme broadens into the network of waterways that defines Berlin's southeastern district, the Strandbad Wendenschloss has hosted an open-air cinema since 2022. Wednesday screenings begin in the early evening, with the audience settling onto loungers and benches at the lakeshore as the light fades over the water. The setting is a working strandbad — a public lakeside bathing area whose 1909 buildings retain a distinctive early-twentieth-century leisure architecture — and the cinema simply borrows its broad terraces for the summer. Programming is curated by the Forum Köpenick cultural association and favours mainstream and family-friendly selections, with occasional documentary highlights.
