Sommerkino in der Dölitzer Wassermühle

Leipzig's only surviving watermill stands on the Mühlpleiße in Dölitz, a listed courtyard on a millstream three villages dug in the thirteenth century. The mill is first documented in 1540; the main house took its present shape in 1738 and was rebuilt in 1814 after the Battle of Leipzig destroyed it. The Grün-Alternatives-Zentrum Leipzig has looked after the site since 1992. For 2026 the Cinémathèque added a second, shorter open-air season here alongside its main summer cinema: Friday and Saturday evenings from 10 July to 14 August, always at 21:00, a handful of recent arthouse films in the original language with subtitles. It is the quieter of the association's two open-airs — a walled mill yard with the water running past, level to reach, and no roof at all, so they play in whatever the evening brings.
