Open Air Kino im Mercedes-Benz Museum

For a couple of weeks each summer the open-air stage in front of the Mercedes-Benz Museum is turned into a cinema: around 700 numbered chairs set out on the forecourt on Mercedesstraße, with UNStudio's 2006 museum building standing over the site. The 2026 season runs from 21 August to 6 September, fifteen evenings in all; admission is from 19:00 and the film starts at sunset, so the actual start time drifts earlier as the weeks pass. The programme is mainstream and German-language rather than arthouse — recent releases, documentaries, sports and motoring films, family titles — and popular dates sell out well in advance. Drinks and snacks come from the museum's caterer. The 2025 edition was the seventeenth, which makes this one of the longer-running open-air seasons in the city.
