KoKi Open-Air Opernplatz

Opernplatz 1, 30159 Hannover

Website
Website

The open-air arm of Hannover's kommunales Kino, played on the Opernplatz in front of the opera house over about a week spanning the end of August and the start of September, under the title Sommer im Kulturdreieck. Admission is free and the films go on a large LED screen, which does not need full darkness to be readable. The square has no seating of its own and none is put out — the invitation printed in the programme is to bring your own chair. It is run by the same city culture office as the Kino im Künstlerhaus a few minutes away, and it covers part of the weeks when that auditorium is closed for the summer; the Kulturhof season follows immediately afterwards. This is a short seasonal series of single evenings rather than a permanent venue: outside those dates the Opernplatz is simply a square.
