KoKi Open-Air Kulturhof

The courtyard behind the Künstlerhaus, played as a free open-air cinema by Hannover's kommunales Kino for about ten days in the first half of September, while the indoor auditorium a few metres away is still closed for the summer. It is a genuine backyard rather than a park or a square: a walled Hof in the middle of the city, with the film thrown on a large LED screen. The season is themed rather than a set of unrelated dates — the 2026 edition, Let The Music Play, was given over entirely to music, with dance films, musicals, cult titles and silent films accompanied by live scores in the yard. It follows straight on from the KoKi's other open-air site on the Opernplatz, which is also free. Nothing plays here outside those weeks; the cinema proper is indoors, in the same building.
