Acud Kino is a tiny screening room inside Acud Haus on Veteranenstrasse in Mitte, a multidisciplinary venue that bundles a gallery, a club, a theatre stage and this cinema under one roof. The proximity of so many art forms in a single building is not incidental -- it shapes the kind of film that finds its way onto the programme, which tends toward the experimental, the essayistic and the documentary. Audiences often drift between events, catching an installation before the screening or staying for a DJ set after. The venue dates from the early post-reunification years when Mitte's empty buildings were colonised by artists, and something of that founding spirit persists. Acud Kino remains a place where cinema converses with other disciplines rather than existing in hermetic isolation.
